OIC of Oklahoma County

Student Info

How much does it cost? There is no cost to be in the OIC tutoring program. How old do I have to be? Student must be 16 and above to participate in the one-on-one tutoring program. If you are 17 years or under, we will need your parents written permission to participate. I didn’t like school. How is one-on-one tutoring different? Our program is based on the student’s need. Students often have a specific goal in mind, such as learning to read the newspaper, write letters, figure out grocery ads or start down the road to achieving a GED. Lessons and curriculum are directed by student goals. At OIC, it’s about the student and how he or she learns best. I don’t know what my reading level is. What’s the first thing I need to do to get started? Give us a call at 405-236-2651 and an appointment will be scheduled to assess your reading level and talk about your goals. After that, the Coordinator will set up a meeting with herself, the tutor, and you. The Coordinator will supply the suggest materials and help set up the first tutoring session with your tutor where you will begin your learning adventure. I’m nervous about meeting my tutor. How do I know who the tutor is? Believe it or not, tutors are nervous too. To begin with, a 3-way meeting is set up between the Coordinator, tutor, and you, where you will get to know each other and work on a schedule for tutoring.
